We’re looking for a thoughtful, communicative, and detail-oriented Senior Technical Designer to join the development team at Hardsuit Labs. The successful candidate will work closely with design and engineering leadership to help conceive and implement complex modular systems and other design elements in our games. Due to COVID-19, all positions at Hardsuit Labs are subject to remote interviews and work.


You’re a natural connector who enjoys working with technical and non-technical people alike. Ideally, you’ll have spent at least 3 years in a technical design role on a high-profile commercial title where your daily functions were to discover and fix tough bugs and other instabilities. You’re comfortable being the go-to troubleshooter, documentation, and workflow expert. You possess excellent overall communication and problem-solving skills and have mastered the art of giving clear, concise, and transparent explanations of complicated systems. Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and champion technical solutions for complex cross team workflows
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design, and Art teams to improve, streamline, and extend dev processes
  • Maintain and extend Blueprint review process contributing to studio wide scripting standardization
  • Write and maintain design process documentation for features, tools, and workflows
  • Contribute to education efforts of other teams and team members

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a technical designer or tools designer/programmer
  • Proven ability to communicate across disciplines and at all levels of an organization
  • Proficiency debugging code/scripts using standard game engine tools
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) and visual scripting (Blueprints)
  • Previous full-lifecycle experience on a high-profile, commercial title

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of UE4 and Blueprints
  • Previous tools and process development experience
  • Previous experience and ability to teach, advocate, and mentor across multiple organizational levels
  • Familiarity developing and debugging a branching narrative game
  • Familiarity with common programming patterns or C#/C++
